DESIGN ADVICE FOR THE NEW YEAR

We've come up with a few "Rinfret Guidelines" to consider this year when reinventing your home.  These are our classic principals when working on a new project.

1.  Use restraint.
Don't overdue it.. think about it in terms of fashion.  How silly do people look when they have caked on make-up or too much jewelry?  Elegant and refined are your two key words to remember when designing a room.

2. Surprises always work.
Nothing is more boring than a predictable room copied out of a magazine.. Have some fun with your home.. throw in a lacquered chair, modern art with your traditional pieces, or an unexpected animal print.

3. Use color that makes you happy (even black).
Color guides for the coming year really don't matter.. Ignore them & use what you love.  Nothing changes a room faster than a fresh coat of paint.  White dove for woodwork always works.

4. Make it your own!
A professional can always guide you with proportions, layout, current fabrics. Even when we design entire homes our clients personalities always shine through..  Add little details like monogramming, pictures and accessories to make it your own.  These finishing touches will let your home will reflect you!

BATHROOM INSPIRATION

This week my main focus is to shop wallpapers for a client's mudroom bathroom.  We want something not too serious like a stripe or a fun chinoiserie print.  The client is traditional, but will let us take the lead when it comes to color and really trusts us which is amazing.  Here are a few pictures I have up on my inspiration board.  Let me know which is your fav.  Have a great week!

Don't love the color palette, but I love the ginger jar wallpaper.

Love the paper, ginger jar & monogramming

Just adorable.

Sophisticated and fun.

INSTALL IN PROGRESS

I don't usually blog on the weekends, but I had to share some photo's of an install we had yesterday up in Connecticut.  I am in love with all of the details and cannot wait to see how the finished house turns out.  It is a great mix of both Denise and my aesthetic; classic, but still young and fun.  We hope you love it as much as we do!

Herringbone detail on the country, chic kitchen table.
Clearly we love a good herringbone (the living room sofa in a soft, silvery neutral).
Unbelievable mill work throughout the house.

Girly, adorable balloon shades in the nursery.

I apologize for the quality... my iPhone takes the worst photo's!
Enjoy your weekend.
