INSPIRATION TO INSTALL

Hi Guys!  We've had such an amazing week.  Firstly, I want to congratulate my baby sister on her beautiful daughter.  Little Lily has graced us with her presence at an itty bitty 5 lbs 10 oz.  You can see her perfect little pic on our instagram page here.

The end of our week was filled with installations.  One of which we blogged about a few weeks ago here...  This inspired our first feature of "Inspiration to Install".  We absolutely adore how this came out and we hope our client feels the same way.  Hopefully we really captured the feminine, sophisticated vibe we were going for.  I absolutely love the quatrefoil table by Stanley and the moroccan looking banquette by Ballard.  They both really made the space.

HOLIDAY INSPIRATION

We took a little break from blogging because we've been so busy both personally and with projects...

To get back in the swing of things I wanted to throw out some holiday inspiration because of a feature we are participating in this week.  Here are some of our favorite holiday shots of work we have done in the past.  Hope you enjoy!

A FEMININE DINING VIGNETTE

Dining Room Vingette

One of our current projects is an amazing studio on the west side in NYC.  It is in a really cool, modern building and the client has a definite feminine, french aesthetic.  Here is a preview of our thought process for her dining area.  A banquette works really nicely in a small apartment because it adds a ton of seating.  We will add some modern art on the left wall as well.  The art work is by Christina Baker - it hasn't been picked yet, but I love her work and think it goes beautifully here to modernize the space a bit.  The picture below does not do the table justice. It has a gorgeous quatrefoil top and these really delicate scroll legs.  We still need to work on lighting and a few finishing touches, but I love how it is all coming together.

WINDOW TREATMENT OVERLOAD

Yesterday was one of the most crazy, but lovely installations we've ever had.  One of our favorite clients up in New Canaan, CT had 18 windows installed.  One came out more beautiful then the next and we had to share some of our favorite shots.

A Classic Silk, Chinoiserie, Window Treatment in the Formal Dining Room

My Personal Favorite- Greek Key Valance Balloon Shades in the Master...
So sophisticated and fun!

A Scalloped, Plaid Valance for the Pantry & Kitchen Nook with a Simple Roman

Masculine Romans in the Study

Wool, Plaid, Smocked Panels in the Family Room

I feel like the pictures came out very dark, but it was a gloomy day yesterday filled with wind and rain.  We hope you like them as much as our clients did!

FRIDAY'S FAB FIND

This chest of drawers.

With the cutey pie tassels?  I cannot get enough.  We found them recently and cannot wait to use them in one of our lucky clients bedrooms or living rooms.  Even in a nursery in pink or light blue? Aren't they so adorable?

I hope you guys have a great weekend!  Dee is headed out to Montauk for a wedding and I will be on Long Island house hunting with the hubs... I hope you have fun plans!

A SHOWER FOR OUR LOVELY AMANDA

Dee & I put together a baby shower for my beautiful sister, Amanda and her future little girl, Lilly this past weekend.  My Aunt & Cousin were nice enough to host it at their amazing house in Southampton.  It was a melt your heart kind of day filled with love and my favorite color-pink.

CHAIRISH INSPIRATION

Chairish Inspiration

Dee & I were thrilled to be asked to do an inspiration board collaborating with the lovely online, home boutique, Chairish.  Our inspiration was a masculine, yet fun library perfect for a newly wed couple trying to combine their aesthetic.  It is a great representation of both of our styles- traditional, yet young & modern.

Chairish is an unbelievably cool website filled with such unique pieces.

A NEW PROJECT: SMALL SPACE SAVERS

We have a lovely new project on the West Side in NYC.  It is a studio in a beautiful building that we are going to try to make homey, stylish & chic.  Our first task was to find an itty bitty console table for the main wall to create an entry.  After scouring our sources are favorite are below...

My favorite above is the faux, ostrich piece from an adorable online store called Society Social.  It's inexpensive and makes such a statement in that bold color.  If we don't go with one of the above we love the idea of a small, custom, skirted tables (clearly we're love our skirted tables- showhouse pics).
An example of one is below.

How adorable?  I love the trim and everything about it.

Enjoy your weekend!
My family is headed out to Southampton... will post some pics on instagram so check them out.

A FAB FIND

While shopping in the town of Southampton a few weeks ago I met a wonderful woman named Nancy Corbett.  She told me about her bespoke company, Corbett Wright.  They make beautiful, sophisticated, but fun pieces.

This amazing shagreen console is so unique & special.
I hope to place it in one of our clients homes in the near future.

In love with this faux ostrich vanity stool...
Perhaps a personal purchase is needed.

All of the pieces are so beautiful and cool.

ADVENTURES IN SHOWCASING

It's been a while since we've posted, but we've had a bunch of projects, family commitments and we've just been bussssssy, busy.  Right now we are installing 2 jobs and also working on the Hampton Designer Showhouse!  It is so exciting to be a part of a show with such an amazing group of designers.  I feel blessed.  Dee and I chose to do the entry and have had some bumps along the way.  After falling in love with three pieces of furniture & selecting all of our fabrics to go with these pieces- they were sold right out from under us.  So now, with one week until final install- we are in search of new items.  We're stressed to say the least, but know it will come together in the end.

Here are some pic's of our adventure so far...

FEELING THE BLAHS

I don't know about you guys, but I am completely over this winter.  New York City has been a disaster this winter.  At first it was a winter wonderland, but now it is anything but... I walk out my door and am slammed with freezing cold air, disgusting muck on the streets or a jammed pack subway because of the weekly flurries.  Our fam is headed to Palm Beach this week and I am so looking forward to the fresh air and beautiful beaches.  This summer craving inspired my post of color today.   I love comparing a great outfit to a fabulous room.  The pops of color in both the fashion and the decor really got me out of my winter blahs and makes me look forward to the warm months ahead.I'm loving this pink and orange pallete.

The scarf is to die for and I absolutely adore the painting, headboard and linens in the above bedroom.

How adorable is this couple?  They look like they are on the streets of Pairs, but I would love to have a pair of those pants for Palm Beach.  They would be perfect.  Also, I love the mix of modern and traditional in the above desk nook.  The lucite desk a dainty french, painted chair is a match made in heaven.

As you know, we love a good monogram and this bedding is killer.  The thick scallop is a modern take on traditional and I am totally in love with the toile headboard.  The bathing suit cover up and the adorable stripped buggy on the left are pretty perfect as well.

Counting down the days until my feet are in the sand...

DESIGN ADVICE FOR THE NEW YEAR

We've come up with a few "Rinfret Guidelines" to consider this year when reinventing your home.  These are our classic principals when working on a new project.

1.  Use restraint.
Don't overdue it.. think about it in terms of fashion.  How silly do people look when they have caked on make-up or too much jewelry?  Elegant and refined are your two key words to remember when designing a room.

2. Surprises always work.
Nothing is more boring than a predictable room copied out of a magazine.. Have some fun with your home.. throw in a lacquered chair, modern art with your traditional pieces, or an unexpected animal print.

3. Use color that makes you happy (even black).
Color guides for the coming year really don't matter.. Ignore them & use what you love.  Nothing changes a room faster than a fresh coat of paint.  White dove for woodwork always works.

4. Make it your own!
A professional can always guide you with proportions, layout, current fabrics. Even when we design entire homes our clients personalities always shine through..  Add little details like monogramming, pictures and accessories to make it your own.  These finishing touches will let your home will reflect you!
