DESIGN ADVICE FOR THE NEW YEAR

We've come up with a few "Rinfret Guidelines" to consider this year when reinventing your home.  These are our classic principals when working on a new project.

1.  Use restraint.
Don't overdue it.. think about it in terms of fashion.  How silly do people look when they have caked on make-up or too much jewelry?  Elegant and refined are your two key words to remember when designing a room.

2. Surprises always work.
Nothing is more boring than a predictable room copied out of a magazine.. Have some fun with your home.. throw in a lacquered chair, modern art with your traditional pieces, or an unexpected animal print.

3. Use color that makes you happy (even black).
Color guides for the coming year really don't matter.. Ignore them & use what you love.  Nothing changes a room faster than a fresh coat of paint.  White dove for woodwork always works.

4. Make it your own!
A professional can always guide you with proportions, layout, current fabrics. Even when we design entire homes our clients personalities always shine through..  Add little details like monogramming, pictures and accessories to make it your own.  These finishing touches will let your home will reflect you!

What a day in NY!

A cute gray day...

Hope you guys had a great weekend! What a day to come back to work! I don't know about you all, but NYC was gorgeous this weekend and now Monday is a rainy mess. It's a bummer for sure, but at least it is rainy while I'm in the office and it did not dampen my weekend at the park. When I wake up and see that it's rainy I get in a bit of a slump. I tend to go for my go to rain outfit of black pants, hunters, chunky knit and maybe a fun earring, but that's pretty much it. Today I was inspired by a client of mine who looked super chic in her skirt, lanvin flower necklace and boots. Above is a similar look that I have chosen to break down in an inexpensive fashion. Hopefully my next rainy day outfit will be just as cute! By the way... don't you LOVE this Bridier Baubles necklace?! It's adorbs and SO well priced it's a steal!!

Need for Tweed

Need for Tweed

The picture above inspired me to look for a new tweed jacket for spring.  It's the perfect weight for the still chilly, but kinda hot weather of this season.  I love the classic feel for work and how you can edge it up with some skinny jeans, tee, a hot pair of shoes and a killer necklace for a night out.  These are pretty well priced and Zara has some cute ones as well.  Especially this little yellow number, here, but I need one that can transition from work to fun and I think that one's a bit too trendy for the showroom.  What is your favorite way to wear tweed?

Style GF: Miranda Kerr- Look for less

Style GF: Miranda Kerr- Look for less

I adore Miranda Kerr.  Her style is simple, chic and fun.  This look is right up my alley.  I'm usually in a button down with jeans and some heals.  It's such a sexy, but still classic look.  I've broken down her entire outfit plus some cute accessories for under $300.

Sunglass Hunt

I want to be this girl.  Her hair, that dress, the perfect pop of color clutch.  I die, but my favorite thing about this picture is the classic tortoise shell sunglasses.  It inspired me to search out a pair.  Here are some different styles above which also come with varrying pricepoints.  The Miu Miu's are my favorite, but they are a tad pricey so the Kate Spade ones will do just fine.  Do you work tortoise into your waredrobe?

1.  Miu Miu - $325
2. Kate Spade - $128
3. Ralph - $89

The Not So Classic, Classic.

How can you not L-O-V-E these photo's.  Ugh, I die... perfection.  I had a wonderful weekend on Long Island with my family.  The sun was out (minus the brief snow fall) and it made me long for Spring, Summer, or at least a damn vacation.  Sigh.  Anyhoo, as I've said before, color can knock the seasonal depression out of anyone.  I love what's going on now with the classic blazer.  The colors out there are amazing- so vibrant and fun!  I adore the first girls fantastic outfit.  You can find a similar blazer here.  Paired with an LWD for a night out or with cigarette pants and a white tee for work.  Beyond.

A fun, colored clutch

It doesn't really get any more amazing than this hot pink, bottega veneta box clutch.  It's so fun, feminine and flirty.  The price tag is a little out of control, though so the second clutch from dvf is a more affordable alternative.

Sheer & Polka Dots

I knew the traditional polka dot could be cute, but sexy?  That's new.  Adding a sheer element to the classic dot really does it.  They can be blatant or hidden under a comfy sweater waiting to be revealed.  I wrote about this madewell set in a Christmas Gift Idea's post, but I had to mention them again in case you missed out.  They are beyond adorable and definitely sexy.

My New Style GF

Move over Olivia, there is a new fashion maven in town that I am obsessing over.  Vivianna Volpicella, the assistant fashion editor at Vogue Nippon.  She is the perfect mix of preppy, classy, chic & fun.
