FRIDAY'S FAVORITES | A RETURN TO MAXIMALISM

There have been a slew of articles recently discussing the resurgence of Maximalism.  Designers like Alex Papachristidis, Mary McDonald and Miles Redd are perfect examples of this.  They are bringing back the Mario Buatta "more is more" mentality with regards to color, prints and accessorizing!!  Alex Papachristidis is known for his use of silk, deep purple color palette and his layering.  Mary McDonald for her painted floors, her use of brass and her love of anything chinoiserie & french (our style sister).  Miles Redd and his vibrant color choices - no one does it like him!

Denise & I are thrilled because clearly we never bought into the minimalist movement.  We agree that there needs to be a certain amount of restraint in design, but the restoration hardware, greige vibe of the last few years always had us yawning!!  Where is the originality?  Where is the personality? Where is the WALLPAPER?! haha... But seriously, in our eyes, it lacked imagination.  The antique movement is back and we are thrilled that the style cycle is returning to old school luxury!

We have discussed our Kings Point project in the past and this is where our love of maximalism will shine.  Decorative moldings, lacquered walls, color!!  In our Friday Favorites this week we take a look at recent lux finds for this project.  Enjoy their beauty and have a great weekend!

BEFORE & AFTER | CHELSEA PROJECT

We love updating our clients apartments and creating their vision.  A lot of time young professionals just don't have the time to make their apartments home.  Or they just don't know how to create the home that they see for themselves in their heads.  That is where we come in!  This couple wanted something fresh, cool and comfortable with pops of color.  They wanted it to be "preppy-chic", but modern given the loft vibe the layout created and the neighborhood in which they lived.  Above are some before and after photos.  We think we created what they were looking for :)

FRIDAY'S FAVORITES | INSPIRATION

This week was a long one.  My husband and I are awaiting the birth of our first little girl and my mom and I are swamped in client meetings.  I feel blessed that we are so busy right now and am beyond excited for our new projects ahead (although, I have to say I am more excited to meet my baby girl of course!!)  We need constant inspiration and browsing pinterest in bed while laying awake at night has become a favorite pastime.  This week there seemed to be a common thread- gracie or gracie-esq wallpaper.  It is beyond beautiful and just inherently classic.  I have been desperately wanting framed panels in our living room and am thinking about biting the bullet as a push present for myself... we shall see!  I hope you enjoy this weeks inspiration...
