FRIDAY'S FAVORITES | PALM BEACH PICKS

After yesterday's blizzard on Long Island all I can think about is our yearly trip to Palm Beach.  The warm sun and bright colors are always an inspiration for our preppy chic look.   In Palm Beach culture there is always the consistent, but cliche pink and green.  A more modern interpretation comes with the colors pink and blue.  Whether in your clothes or in a classic poolside awnings, the palette is fresh, inviting and happy.  Who wouldn't want to lounge under a gorgeously blue or pink canopy with a cocktail, late afternoon when the sun gets a little too strong. Clearly this year, with little Georgia, I will not be partaking in that luxury, however I will cherish the many other memories created.  Above are some worth avenue staples for your wardrobe as well as some accessories to create the preppy chic, Palm Beach vibe in your home.

xoxo

From top left clockwise
1.  A gorgeous, blue throw pillow in a great Quadrille print - available for purchase.
2.  A neutral panama hat pairs perfectly with PB's loud colors
4.  A Mark Rothko- not very budget friendly, but Denise & I have great sources for similar items that are so please contact us if interested.
5.  A less expensive les bon bons version in a terrific pink.
6.  The perfect summer shirt - off the shoulder and linen - what's better?
7.  Last, but not least a pink, printed bikini - of course.

FASHION WEEK VS. INTERIORS

Like most interior designers I am obsessed with fashion.  One mimics the other and like my interior aesthetic my fashion sense tends to be classic, but feminine with a sometimes architectural,  often times fun element.  I stalked NY & London's fashion week's runways hourly over the last two weeks.  The detail was exquisite and inspirational.  Above are my favorite looks paired with unbelievable interiors, both of which are incredible and so perfectly proportioned.

1.  Carolina Herrera | David Kaihoi
2. Michael Kors | Designer Unknown (Aerin Lauder's Apnt)
3. Ralph Lauren | Mark D. Sikes
4. Oscar de la Renta | Miles Redd

SEE SUMMER BETTER

I'm semi- obsessed with the glasses by Warby Parker.  It's a sophisticated, classic, but super cool brand.  When they asked us to contribute to a blog post for their #seesummerbetter campaign we were thrilled!  Above are a few of my favorites and places where we think they would look fab.

1. Griffin in Blonde Tortoise | I think my favorite pair of glasses to go with my absolute favorite place in the summer (or any time of year for that matter)- Southampton beach.  I grew up summering here and it just brings me to a happy place.  I can sit and watch the waves or read for hours.
Glasses | Warby Parker
Hat | Net-a-Porter
Bikini | Shop Bop
Beach Towel | Matouk

2.  Crossfield in Polished Gold | The perfect pair to wear for some beers and great music.  Late summer (end of August, early September), after the crowds have subsided, Cisco Brewery in Nantucket is the most fun spot to party.  You're never to old for an afternoon jam session and a round of corn hole.  Hanging here with my fam is the best.
Glasses | Warby Parker
Striped Top | MDS Stripes
Sandals | Calypso
Jean Shorts | AG

3.  Reilly in Marzipan Tortoise | A chic pair of shades for a day at the Met and a picnic in the park.  Do not miss the current exhibit on China Through the Looking Glass.  It is the most amazing showcase of haute couture you have ever seen.
Glasses | Warby Parker
Tote | Rae Feather
Jumper | Club Monaco
Flats | Chanel

A SPRING REFRESH

A SPRING REFRESH

I don't know about you guys, but every season I like to add a little something new.  Accessories really seem to do the trick for me.  This season a new pair of fresh loafers and a statement necklace will really pep up last years white, linen blazer.  Also, I am currently coveting the hermes satchel in this beautiful, blue, but that is wishful thinking.  As for the house- Bode (our bulldog) really needs a cute, clean bed.   Also, I've started hoarding great accessories for the future house.  I'm still obsessing over this scalloped lantern and recently purchased this glass knot for the show house-  it is so beautiful I had to get one for myself as well.

1. Loafers - Tods
2. Lantern - Coleen & Co.
3. Tassel Necklace - Calypso
4. Satchel - Hermes
5. Glass Knot - Antique Store
6. Dog Bed - Amy Berry Design

WHAT I'M NOT LOVING WEDNESDAY

WHAT I'M NOT LOVING WEDNESDAY

So, there is this yellow thing happening and I can't get on board.  I almost fell pray to it last week when a sales woman tried to convince me that I "haaaad to have" this shocking yellow, cut out, low back dress for a wedding.  Sorry. But. No.  I think yellow is truly the hardest color to pull off and it just doesn't do a whole lot for anyone or anything in both interiors and also in fashion.

The one and only time I thought it not only worked, but I loved it was below.  A small part of that could be because I have a small obsession with the chair's owner, Nicole Hanley Mellon.  One of the chicest women on the planet.

FEELING THE BLAHS

I don't know about you guys, but I am completely over this winter.  New York City has been a disaster this winter.  At first it was a winter wonderland, but now it is anything but... I walk out my door and am slammed with freezing cold air, disgusting muck on the streets or a jammed pack subway because of the weekly flurries.  Our fam is headed to Palm Beach this week and I am so looking forward to the fresh air and beautiful beaches.  This summer craving inspired my post of color today.   I love comparing a great outfit to a fabulous room.  The pops of color in both the fashion and the decor really got me out of my winter blahs and makes me look forward to the warm months ahead.I'm loving this pink and orange pallete.

The scarf is to die for and I absolutely adore the painting, headboard and linens in the above bedroom.

How adorable is this couple?  They look like they are on the streets of Pairs, but I would love to have a pair of those pants for Palm Beach.  They would be perfect.  Also, I love the mix of modern and traditional in the above desk nook.  The lucite desk a dainty french, painted chair is a match made in heaven.

As you know, we love a good monogram and this bedding is killer.  The thick scallop is a modern take on traditional and I am totally in love with the toile headboard.  The bathing suit cover up and the adorable stripped buggy on the left are pretty perfect as well.

Counting down the days until my feet are in the sand...

What a day in NY!

A cute gray day...

Hope you guys had a great weekend! What a day to come back to work! I don't know about you all, but NYC was gorgeous this weekend and now Monday is a rainy mess. It's a bummer for sure, but at least it is rainy while I'm in the office and it did not dampen my weekend at the park. When I wake up and see that it's rainy I get in a bit of a slump. I tend to go for my go to rain outfit of black pants, hunters, chunky knit and maybe a fun earring, but that's pretty much it. Today I was inspired by a client of mine who looked super chic in her skirt, lanvin flower necklace and boots. Above is a similar look that I have chosen to break down in an inexpensive fashion. Hopefully my next rainy day outfit will be just as cute! By the way... don't you LOVE this Bridier Baubles necklace?! It's adorbs and SO well priced it's a steal!!

Need for Tweed

Need for Tweed

The picture above inspired me to look for a new tweed jacket for spring.  It's the perfect weight for the still chilly, but kinda hot weather of this season.  I love the classic feel for work and how you can edge it up with some skinny jeans, tee, a hot pair of shoes and a killer necklace for a night out.  These are pretty well priced and Zara has some cute ones as well.  Especially this little yellow number, here, but I need one that can transition from work to fun and I think that one's a bit too trendy for the showroom.  What is your favorite way to wear tweed?

Style GF: Miranda Kerr- Look for less

Style GF: Miranda Kerr- Look for less

I adore Miranda Kerr.  Her style is simple, chic and fun.  This look is right up my alley.  I'm usually in a button down with jeans and some heals.  It's such a sexy, but still classic look.  I've broken down her entire outfit plus some cute accessories for under $300.

Friday's Favorites: The EP Outfit

Engagement White

I love the idea of brides wearing white to all of the parties in celebration of their wedding.  My mothers friend has been kind enough to host an engagement party for Alex and I.  Obviously, I have been in search of the perfect outfit since the day it was announced.  Here are two options I've come up with so far.  Thoughts?  Enjoy your weekend everyone...

A Feminine Edge

This, to me, is the epitome of chic.  Throw a scalloped edge on a basic black short and an outfit goes from ordinary to amazing.  I found a similar version here, from Aqua at Bloomies.  I am in love and need to replicate this exact outfit. Better get my butt to the gym to get those legs in shape for short season!

Lady in Red

Lady in Red
What a fantastic afternoon.  I spent the last few hours shopping for a wedding dress with my wonderful mother.  The whole day was centered around love and romance.  It made me realize that Valentines day is right around the corner.   There is no better way to show up to dinner that evening than in an LRD.  The little red dress is sexy, classy and sassy.  I can guarantee that your man will love it as much as you love wearing it.  I adore this Alice & Olivia tunic dress from shopbop.  It will definitely be added to my wardrobe immediately.  What will you be wearing this Valentines?

Sheer & Polka Dots

I knew the traditional polka dot could be cute, but sexy?  That's new.  Adding a sheer element to the classic dot really does it.  They can be blatant or hidden under a comfy sweater waiting to be revealed.  I wrote about this madewell set in a Christmas Gift Idea's post, but I had to mention them again in case you missed out.  They are beyond adorable and definitely sexy.

Style GF: Lily Aldridge

Style GF: Lily Aldridge

Weather you're a prep, trend-setter, or something in between sometimes you gotta just rock it out.  This girl is so chic.  Obviously she is beautiful, she's a Vicky Secret's angel and her street style is so edgy, but still relaxed.  I love a girl who can rock a plain white tee with confidence and look amazing.   Above is my inexpensive breakdown.
